The Black History Club

For years, I've been dreaming of a place where children could come and learn about the histories of Black people. A safe place where they could feel comfortable talking and learning about the hardships of Black people, while also celebrating the triumphs and achievements of Black people.

With time, support and some amazing families, my dreams have become reality! The Black History Club has become a place of comfort, safety and community. We not only learn about Black histories during our time together, but we also learn more about ourselves and who we are.

Although it is a place for children to learn, explore and discover the greatness of Black people and their histories, it has become a safe haven for me. A place where I am free to be passionate about one of the things that matters to me the most; Black people. A place where I am free to be me, I don't have to code switch or please anyone. It is the "after school" club that I've wanted to be a part of all of my life.
