Did you hear the good news? You survived the week and you made it to Friday!
Fridays have been the hardest for me since we started #RemoteLearning or #DistantLearning and I've had to create #AlternativeInstructionMethods. By Friday, I am SUPER exhausted and all the thoughts, discussions, Zoom meetings, YouTube videos kind of come crashing down on me. This is a different kind of exhaustion. I'm not exhausted from 5 days of dealing with 19 kindergartners for almost 8 hours a day. I'm exhausted from the overload of information from administration, the energy I put in to teach a lesson in front of my phone camera, and trying to organize the best times to get most of students on one Zoom call a few times a week.
No matter how exhausted I am, I know that what I am doing is benefitted my students and their families in some way and it is worth it to see their little faces in our Zoom meetings each week and hearing them say, "Ms. James!"
So my Friday Feeling is a mix of a lot of feelings. I am HAPPY to help my families, I am SAD that I am missing the last three months of my students' Kindergarten year. I am EXHAUSTED from the weeks' tasks, and I am GRATEFUL and BLESSED to be a teacher. I am also pretty EXCITED about having a cookie for breakfast!
So what's your Friday Feeling? No matter what your feeling or feelings may be, you are allowed to feel those feelings, but don't get stuck there. Feel what you feel and then find a positive. I may be exhausted, but I am looking forward to good food and good wine to end this week.
